New technology may help launch rockets safely from a Russian cosmonaut’s capsule.
The rocket will be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan from a specially modified Russian Soyuz rocket, which will then be moved by the International Space Station into orbit.
The launch is part of the Russian Space Program’s manned space flight programme.
The Russian cosmodrome, the world’s busiest, has been used for launches by the US and European space agencies since the 1990s.
The Soyuz is powered by four RD-180 engines, and launches are carried out from the launch pad, located at the centre of the complex.
Its first flight took place in December 2018.
